Advertising Disclosure

SilentShadow.org is funded through advertising. We use Google AdSense and may use additional advertising partners in the future.

How Ads May Use Data

Advertising technology may use cookies and similar identifiers to deliver ads, limit frequency, measure performance, and help prevent fraud. Depending on settings and, where required, your consent, ads may be personalized.

For details, see our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy.

Personalized vs Non-Personalized Ads

In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland the Site sets Google's advertising consent signals to denied by default, before any Google script runs, and they stay denied unless a consent tool grants them. Where consent is withheld, ads may be served non-personalized, limited, or not at all, depending on Google's own configuration and policy. We do not run a cookie banner of our own; where a consent message appears it comes from Google's privacy and messaging tools.

Editorial Independence

Advertising does not determine our safety guidance. We do not accept payment to change recommendations or to publish favorable content, and no advertiser sees a page before it goes up. See our Editorial Policy.

Pages That Carry No Ads

Two pages are deliberately ad-free, and they are the two a reader is most likely to open in the middle of an incident: the CO alarm beeping check and the CO symptoms action check. Both walk someone through what to do while an alarm is sounding or somebody feels unwell, and an ad has no business in that flow.

This is enforced rather than intended. One of the automated checks that runs before the site is built refuses to publish if either template regains an ad unit, and it reads the built pages as well as the templates, because the first version of that check read only the templates and passed for months while the built pages were wrong.
